Event history

In the summer of 2000, Michael J. Rokosz brought together the chief professional officers of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (NMSS), Michigan Chapter to discuss an idea he had that would draw on the strengths of the organization and create a venue for highlighting architectural and engineering achievements which result in improved accessibility for people with disabilities.

Formerly a Research Scientist for Ford Motor Company, Michael has been actively involved with the Society for a number of years. He has served on the Board or Trustees for the National MS Society, Michigan Chapter for over 20 years.

Michael's vision of creating a prestigious nationally recognized event that celebrates advances in barrier-free design and technology, has evolved into an annual da Vinci Awards® gala to raise money for the National MS Society.
